Entertainment Weekly got an exclusive first look at a new San Diego Comic Con exclusive from Hasbro. The Revolution Comic Crossover Mega-Set will feature 16 action figures from IDW's
Revolution comic book event from 2016.
The boxed set will feature Jetfire (Transformers), Roadblock (G.I. Joe), ROM and Dire Wraith (ROM the Space Knight), Action Man, nine characters from Micronauts, Leoric (Visionaries), and M.A.S.K.'s Matt Trakker. Retail price will be $99.99 with first chance to purchase at this year's San Diego Comic Con. The set will also be on sale at Canada's Fan Expo and later online in limited supply at
HasbroToyShop.com.
This set will feature the first official M.A.S.K. toy produced by Hasbro since 2008 when "Specialist Trakker" appeared in the G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary Collection. And speaking of, the new figure appears to essentially be a repaint of the Specialist Trakker figure to match Brandon Easton's concept from the IDW comic series. Take a look at them side-by-side below...
The new figure does not come with the Condor backpack but does have the same machine gun accessory and mask. Other than the obvious change to the African-American character represented in the comics, you can see other subtle changes to the paint scheme on the uniform and mask.
While this might seem as rehashing of a past toy to some, I'm grateful Hasbro took the time to update the figure to the present concept and include it with the boxset. What's more interesting is the inclusion of Leoric in this "Revolution" set of which he nor any Visionaries were featured directly. Nonetheless, Hasbro has made another small step toward new M.A.S.K. toys which we would love to see beyond convention exclusives!
